Entry 29: Jane Knight

The first rule of medicine they teach you is do no harm.  Yesterday I had to leave Miriam in a lot of pain because we the don't have any painkillers.  Yes, I stopped the tetanus in her and it seems she'll be fine, but she's in and out of sleep now due to the haze of the diazepam and the pain she's still facing.  The man, however...  I had amputate one of his arms.  He had more than just tetanus wrong with him.  He was already  infected, but not with zomobification.  Gangrene, and possibly P. aeruginosa or another.  I don't have the proper equipment to find out or the proper treatment for it.  And he's on some powerful drugs which he'll go into withdrawl from soon.  If he lives that is.  If he does, he'll be in pain the rest of his life, and missing an arm.  Even before Z-A day that'd be rough on anyone.  Now, its more than just a nightmare.  But...  I...  I don't think he's going to make it.  I just hope the person with him can forgive me.
