Entry 41: Ellis Vaughn

Steven and Jane made it back safely finally, but Richard was lost while I was sleeping.  Heard about it when I woke and then mostly had to help the others keeping zombies away from us so the two of them had a place to come to once they got out of the city.  Never expected them to pickup more people on the way.  Sargent John Francis Hook of the 25th Infantry, home on leave when things went to shit and unable to connect up with his troop.  Markus Pierce, an ice cream salesman before the big Z-A Day and a former high school football coach.  Tiana Iverson, a butcher, hunter and she's a fine dancer or so she says.  The lot of them came blaring in with an ice cream truck's cheer and a Humvee behind, engine roaring, machine guns hooked up to both of them, and a few hand-made grenades beside.  Seems they noticed the zombies forming a siege and decided to see what had gotten their interest.  Came in like the good ol' cavalry and got Steven and Jane out of town to us.  Seem decent sort, if a bit eager to make a ruckus in putting the zombies to rest.  They have a plow on their Humvee, mostly used for ramming zombies, but its still good enough to push the snow despite the blood stains and rust that won't come out.  On our way again it seems.  Glad to be leaving, though I wish we had two more with us who could have been...
